PROGRAM BRIEF
Day 1. Arrival in Calasetta. Tour briefing, bike fitting and warm up ride
Day 2. Cycling loop of Carloforte island 20 Km
Day 3. Sulcis Countryside 40Km
Day 4. The amazing Costa del Sud 55Km
Day 5. Departure day
DAY BY DAY PROGRAM
Day 1 Calasetta (Cycling: 10km warm up ride)
You’ll meet our rep at your hotel in Calasetta countryside for a tour briefing and bike fitting. You can warm up with an easy ride discovering the coastline, ending with an aperitive by the sea.
Day 2 Carloforte Island (Cycling: 20Km / climb: 100mt)
We get in the morning to Carloforte with a 30min ferry ride. Carloforte is a Mediterrenean gem where Ligurian, African and Sardinian culture blend harmoniously. We spend the day exploring around salt works, nice beaches and the charming colourful town famous for the Red Tuna fish. In the afternoon we take the ferry back to Calasetta.
Day 3 Sulcis Countryside (Cycling: 40Km / climb: 100mt)
We leave Sant’Antioco island along the salt works, dotted by pink flamingos. After a stop in the picturesque village of Tratalias vecchia, built around the beautiful Romanesque Cathedral of Santa Maria, we’ll cross the Sulcis countryside through artichokes fields and Carignano vineyards. The riding day ends in Sant’Anna Arresi in front of the beautiful bay of Porto Pino.
Day 4 The amazing Costa del Sud (Cycling: 55Km / climb: 500mt)
This leg takes you back into the ancient mining past of Sardinia, as we pass the fascinating abandoned mines of Ingortosu and Planusartu. After the golden beach of Portixeddu and looming mass of Pan di Zucchero cliff, you admire the old ore washery at Nebida: nestling in the varied colours of the Mediterranean bush, it looks out over the sea at the end of a long descente down 540 steps.
Day 5 Arrivederci!
